Hello all!
My problem is that i have fresh install of Ati catalyst drivers (ati-driver-installer-10-3-x86.x86_64.run) and SDK (ati-stream-sdk-v2.01-lnx64.tgz). The examples start ok but the GPU is not found.
./CLInfo gives:
Plaform Version: OpenCL 1.0 ATI-Stream-v2.0.1
...
Name: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU
And no Ati GPU's.
The kernel driver seems to work (dmesg|grep fgl):

flare5009,
Please post your system configuration(OS, GPU etc)
Also run CAL samples(FindNumDevices) to verify that drivers got installed correctly and the GPU is being detected properly.
Thanks for Your quick reply!
OS is 64b Debian 5.0.

flare5009,
Your driver did not get installed properly. Debian 5.0 is an unsupported OS currently and there could be problems. Some users were able to resolve issues using some workarounds. These threads might give you more info.

Ok, thanks. I did update my kernel to be same version as in Ubuntu 9.10 but it did not help. I did try also the "nopat" option.
I guess i have to re-install OS. Anyway, here is what it currently outputs to dmesg. To me, it seems like there is something wrong going on.

Hello!
I seem to be having the same problem, only I am running a 64bit windows 7 system.
I also have the latest catalyst drivers installed and ati stream. I ran a tutorial program - clGetPlatformIDs returns only one platform in num_platforms; just like FindNumDevices.
You say that the drivers probably didn't install correctly. How can I fix that? I already tried reinstalling Catalyst.
EDIT:
My gpu is a Radeon HD 5830 by VTX3D
Thanks in advance.
Which catalyst and SDK version are you using? Please post the output of CLInfo and FindNumDevices.
Ok now I installed the card into a different computer (not because of this error, but for different reasons).
Still I have the same error. The system is now WinXP 32 bit. The card is still a Radeon HD 5830.
EDIT:
Catalyst Control Center version 2010.0210.1730.31317;
Stream SDK freshly downloaded and installed today.
Here are the outputs:

Oh sorry, my bad. I thought platforms were devices, not OpenCL implementations
Everything works fine now. omkaranathan, your suggestion to view FindNumDevices helped me understand this. Thanks a lot
I am also experiencing this symptom and I am using Ubuntu 10.04, a supported linux distribution. I have followed the README provided with the driver and the SDK and hours of research on the AMD forums. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
A typical symptom is:

Can you do following again?
1. Uninstall driver as follows
move to /usr/share/ati and run ./fglrx-Uninstall.sh
2. Restart system
3. use init 3 command if x server is started
4. Install driver
5. Run following command to setup config file
aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf
6. Start X server by startx
7. Run glxgrears application(glxgrears)
or
glxinfo | grep direct

Hello whaddock,
After reading this whole thread it seems like your driver are not installed properly because the folder (/usr/share/ati/) should contains some files like amd-uninstall.sh, fglrx-uninstall.sh,fglrx-install.log & etc. But in your it contains only amdcccle. So, now you can do two things
1. Go to text mode (without X server).
2. Run command (./ati-driver-xxx.run)
3. Follow the instructions.
4. After completing installation run (aticonfig --initial).
5. Start X server with startx.
2nd option is first delete ati folder from /usr/share/ati then reboot system. After that do all the steps of first option.
Thanks
Ramandeep
