Question: How do I install ATI Stream SDK 2.01?

Need help installing ATI Stream SDK 2.01!

Hi everyone!

The question it's simple and fast. I'm running Linux Backtrack 4 final release and honestly I don't know how to install the ATI Stream SDK 2.01 and I try it following the installation PDF but I think that explanation/tutorial it's above my knowledge because I try to follow that tutorial and I still not able to install the ATI Stream SDK 2.01 drivers.

So that was the question, let me explain a little bit about what I want to do and what I already try.

Like the tittle says, I don't know how to install the ATI Stream SDK 2.01 and I was wondering if someone from here could help me how to install it. If it's needed I could pay for the help.

Here is what I want to do.

Stated from this picture.

http://pyrit.googlecode.com/svn/tags/opt/pyritperfaa3.png

From the page.

I see my ATI HD 4850 could scan about 17,500 PMKs if I install OpenCL to my ATI HD 4850. Also I can see the same HD 4850 could scan about 7,800 PMKs but that's with "Stream" so I don't want to work with "Stream" I want "OpenCL" because it's a lot faster for what I want to do. The idea it's to scan WPA networks handshakes with Pyrit but to be able to run about 17,500 I need to install the ATI regular video drivers, ATI Stream SDK 2.01 which supports OpenCL, I need to install CPyritOpenCL and Pyrit.

The problem it's the following. I'm running Linux Backtrack 4 final release and I'm able to install the ATI regular video drivers without any problems, then I need to install the ATI SDK OpenCL and there's the problem because if I didn't install this then I wont be able to install the CPyritOpenCL and without any of this I wont be able to run about 17,500 PMKs.

I just only need someone to guide me step by step on how to install this drivers because I buy this HD 4850 for doing this but I tough installing the ATI Stream SDK 2.01 was easy and it was nothing easy at all like I tough!

I already try this.

http://forums.amd.com/devforum/messageview.cfm?catid=390&threadid=125792

I know it says it's for Ubuntu but I try it anyway because this PROBABLY could fix my problem but I don't even know what to type in the console to install/run this packages. So what I did was extract the files one by one and put them in the directory manually but this makes Pyrit to see my GPU HD 4850 as another video card. So it wasn't working the way I did it.

I also try this other packages too.

http://forums.amd.com/devforum/messageview.cfm?catid=390&threadid=131512

And same thing, no luck and I think it's because I'm doing something wrong because I know my Linux knowledge it's not too much.

I try Google anything about how to install ATI Stream SDK 2.01 and the results where really low.

I already read the following threads.

http://forums.amd.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=390&threadid=123276

http://forums.amd.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=390&threadid=120456

http://forums.amd.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=390&threadid=125494

And if I keep posting everything what I already read I wont finish. But everyone here it's above me because all threads I can see here they already have manage how to install the ATI Stream SDK.

And to finish this are a couple of my specifications:

Linux Backtrack 4 final release

Asus motherboard

AMD Sempron 3600+ 2.01 <-- YEAH! I know it's a cheap computer.

1 GB RAM

ATI HD 4850 <-- Not the x2...

This is what I already install:

ATI Catalyst™ 10.3 Proprietary Linux x86 Display Driver

ati-driver-installer-10-3-x86.x86_64.run

And this is what I want to install:

ati-stream-sdk-v2.01-lnx32.tgz (34.2MB)

http://developer.amd.com/Downloads/ati-stream-sdk-v2.01-lnx32.tgz

I was trying to install it with this PDF:

http://developer.amd.com/gpu/ATIStreamSDK/assets/ATI_Stream_SDK_Installation_Notes.pdf

And before following that tutorial I read this whole PDF too.

http://developer.amd.com/gpu/ATIStreamSDK/assets/ATI_Stream_SDK_Getting_Started_Guide_v2.01.pdf

Thanks so much! Any reply will be really appreciated.

ok i little google an find out that backtrack linux use deb package manager. so you install my packages like this

dpkg -i ati-opencl-runtime_2.01_amd64.deb ati-opencl-dev_2.01.deb

of course you must run this from directory where you have downloaded my packages.

Once again thanks so much nou... I'll create a little tutorial for this and I'll post the link here when it's done!

One thing is, the Pyrit sees my "ATI HD 4850" as "ATI RV770" but anyway I don't care because it's running 14,000 which was the speed I was wondering. I know it wasn't going to run 17,500 because my CPU don't help but 14,000 still enough for me!

Thanks! Have a good one!

RV770 is normal. it is codename for that GPU chip. my 5850 (and 5870 too) is reported as Cypress.

i am glad it work.

I kind of have the same problem. Freshly installed bt4 with catalyst 10.3. I also installed the .deb files made by nou, but I still cannot see my gpu listed.

Would you mind posting the steps you took in detail?

try run FindNumDevices from CAL samples from ATiStream SDK.

I will try by the end of the day. At the moment I am happy with my running setup. I ditched bt4 and installed Ubuntu 10.04 x64 on a second partition. Installing Catalyst with the built in tool for restricted drivers was successful and did not foobar the X-Server.

I continued by installing your beautiful deb files and voila!

now it is time for some oc'ing

Later the day, I will try to fix my bt4 installtion. Thanks again for the deb files you made!
