Windows 7

nothing in install directory

I am on windows 7 64 bit but used the windows vista 64 bit executables (as there arnt any windows 7 ones) and was wondering if it is normal for the installer to not put any files in the installation directory in this configuration.

It's normal. I.e. it's a bug but it's a known bug, so it's "normal".

It's a bit ironic though that installer doesn't supports windows 7 because "it's not officially released yet" but at the same time there are lots of "HD5800 -- FIRST GPU TO SUPPORT WINDOWS 7 AND DIRECTX 11" marketing crap around.

Try running the installer with this command in cmd.exe:

msiexec.exe /a <your file.msi>
