I have access to a system with ATI HD2600 Pro.

Is this card likely to get OpenCL support in the next release?

If this is likely to happen I will spend some time optimizing for the architecture (for school project). Otherwise, I'll just work on making an efficient CPU-targetting program.

The HD2600 card also does not have the capabilities for OpenCL. OpenCL requires compute shader, among many other features, which was only introduced on HD4XXX series of graphics cards or later.

so even radeon 3800 is unsupported?

Radeon HD3XXX is based on the R600 series of chips and compute shader support was not added until R7XX.
