The ASSESS Initiative is a broad-reaching multi-industry initiative to increase the availability and effectiveness of engineering simulation.

It was formed to bring together key players, both users and developers of simulation software, to guide and influence the software tool strategies for performing model-based analysis, simulation, and systems engineering. The ASSESS Initiative has a vision to significantly expand the use and benefit of software tools for model-based analysis, simulation, and systems engineering in the engineering applications domain.

AMD well understands the increasing graphical demands required by essential engineering software tools, and our Radeon Pro graphics cards were created to provide industry professionals with exceptional visual performance to power their most demanding simulation projects.

As part of its ongoing effort to support the ASSESS Initiative, AMD will be a Gold Sponsor for the upcoming ASSESS 2019 Congress to help the organization continue to improve the awareness and increase the value of engineering simulation to the industry.

According to Joe Walsh, CEO and Co-Founder of the ASSESS Initiative: “AMD has been a supporter of the ASSESS Initiative and the ASSESS Congress and we appreciate their continued support and participation at our annual congress.”

The 4th annual ASSESS 2019 Congress, which will be held at Chateau Elan Winery & Resort, Oct 27-29, 2019, is designed to enable strategies and foster relationships that will significantly increase the use and benefit of engineering simulation.

The event aims to drive a “simulation revolution” to address the expertise gap in the industry today, which has limited the growing use of engineering simulation.

AMD attended the annual COExperience conference, held this year in New Orleans.

COExperience is the premier Dassault Systèmes user-focused conference -- a community of experts of Dassault Systèmes Solutions -- featuring management presentations and multiple technical breakout sessions, along with customer and partner presentations.

Attendees from a wide variety of vertical markets had the opportunity to discover AMD solutions for 3DEXPERIENCE users.

AMD participated in both the conference and TechniFair, and the Leaders’ Summit parallel tracks.

AMD gave a presentation on ‘Delivering 3DEXPERIENCE from the Cloud’. Attendees discovered using CATIA running from the cloud has multiple benefits to optimize productivity and accelerate workflows. AMD explained how virtualized graphics, delivered by AMD, is a key ingredient in the next generation of 3DEXPERIENCE and PLM deployment and offers best practices in supporting PLM infrastructures.

For the first time, AMD demonstrated 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA VR powered by AMD Radeon™ Pro WX 9100 card with the HTC Vive Pro. AMD enabled a high-quality VR experience on the HTC Vive Pro with CATIA’s latest 3DEXPERIENCE R2019x. The back-end rendering was driven by a Dell Precision Tower 7820 with an AMD Radeon™ VR Ready Creator1 Radeon  Pro WX 9100 GPU. Demonstration of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and its VR capabilities was performed by VIAS (www.viascorp.com), an AMD partner and Dassault Systèmes platinum provider.

AMD offered attendees relevant insight into using 3DEXPERIENCE powered by AMD Radeon™ professional graphics to help make them more productive in their commercial and academic fields.

1.   A VR-capable GPU is required for VR:

AMD Radeon™ VR Ready Creator Products are select AMD Radeon™ Pro and AMD FirePro™ GPUs that meet or exceed the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive recommended specifications for video cards/GPUs. Other hardware (including CPU) and system requirements recommended by Oculus Rift or HTC Vive should also be met in order to operate the applicable HMDs as intended. As VR technology, HMDs and other VR hardware and software evolve and/or become available, these criteria may change without notice. PC/System manufacturers may vary configurations, yielding different VR results/performance. Check with your PC or system manufacturer to confirm VR capabilities. GD-101

Dassault Systèmes® CATIA is one of the premiere software suites used for product development and product lifecycle management (PLM). It has been one of the the CAD leaders in automotive and aerospace in particular. Dassault Systèmes was one of the pioneers of computer-aided design (CAD), and its software has been used to design everything from passenger cars to military jets over the years.

The modern iterations of CATIA, and a host of many other design and simulation tools such as SIMULIA and DELMIA, are all rolled into Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform. These applications have complete interoperability with each other, enabling powerful end-to-end digital continuity and collaborative PLM solutions.

3DEXPERIENCE R2019x was officially released today, and AMD is excited to announce that its Radeon™ Pro WX-series graphics products have already been fully certified by Dassault Systèmes for the new release. For the second year in a row, AMD Radeon™ Pro graphics is primed and ready to power 3DEXPERIENCE on release day.

Certification is a critical requirement for enterprise customers, as it ensures that Dassault Systèmes has tested AMD’s graphics hardware and software for flawless operation with its application suite. 3DEXPERIENCE is a highly complex application, which is why AMD has partnered closely with Dassault Systèmes to guarantee that its graphics products deliver the rock stable functionality that the top 3DEXPERIENCE customers demand.
