Remember the first time you had a chocolate covered peanut butter cup? You likely realized that when two things work really well together it creates a fantastic experience. The new AMD A8-7670K APU is kind of like that… except less gooey.

In case you don’t know, an APU is the combination of a processor (CPU) and a graphics card (GPU) all rolled into one convenient, albeit less delicious, chip1. It provides excellent processing power for your everyday tasks, great graphics capability for eSports online gaming and a superb experience in Windows® 10. All at an affordable price.

You’re probably thinking, “that’s good and all but you’re going to have to show me what’s in the peanut butter before I’ll believe it.” The A8-7670K APU offers 10 compute cores: 4 CPU cores running at up to 3.9GHz, 6 GPU cores running at 757MHz, and 4MB of L2 cache (learn all about compute cores at www.amd.com/computecores). In addition, it supports Heterogeneous System Architecture for high levels of performance and efficiency. Check out some of the benchmark data2:

The A8-7670K APU also performs well in popular eSports gaming titles like Counter Strike®: Global Offensive, DOTA 2™, and League of Legends®. We take gaming seriously at AMD which is why we put so many features into our APUs that make your gaming experience awesome, and that starts with improved gaming efficiency with support for DirectX® 12. AMD FreeSync™ technology puts an end to choppy gameplay and broken frames3. Eyefinity, multi-display technology, adds more realism and greater fields of view4. Virtual Super Resolution (VSR) improves image quality when gaming at lower resolutions. And native H.264 video encoding empowers AMD’s Gaming Evolved application to effortlessly record your gameplay. Below are some benchmarks from popular eSports titles5:

And the final delicious peanut butter cup moment comes with Microsoft® Windows® 10. The A8-7670K delivers a superb experience in the upcoming operating system (OS). Four core threading offers excellent performance for productivity apps. Hardware-based acceleration provides smooth video playback of movies and TV. Full graphics acceleration for HTML5 and WebGL provide an excellent online experience using the new Microsoft Edge browser.

Quite possibly the best part of the A8-7670K is the excellent value it provides. With a suggested price (SEP) of $117.99 USD you’ll have enough left over to splurge on an extra peanut butter cup… or three.

3 FreeSync is an AMD technology designed to eliminate stuttering and/or tearing in games and videos by locking a display’s refresh rate to the framerate of the graphics card.  Requires Monitor, AMD Radeon™ graphics and/or AMD A-Series APU compliant with DisplayPort™ Adaptive-Sync 1.2 (or newer).  AMD Catalyst™ driver 15.2 Beta (or newer) required. Adaptive refresh rates vary by display; check with your monitor manufacturer for specific capabilities. Only select AMD Radeon GPUs and A-Series APUs supported; see www.amd.com/freesync for full details

4 AMD Eyefinity technology supports up to four DisplayPort monitors with select AMD A-Series APUs. Supported display quantity, type and resolution vary by APU model and system design; confirm specifications with the system manufacturer before purchase. To enable more than two displays, or multiple displays from a single output, additional hardware such as DisplayPort-ready monitors or DisplayPort 1.2 MST-enabled hubs may be required.  A maximum of two active adapters is recommended. See www.amd.com/eyefinityfaq for full details.
