It’s been a busy year here at AMD – we’ve launched three new brands and many product families, reentered the server market, collaborated with industry leaders to bring premium products to market, and much more. We are grateful to our customers and partners for joining us on this journey, and look forward to the road ahead.
As we reflect on 2017, we maintain our strong conviction that business success and community success are not mutually exclusive, but rather support and further each other – that through our business decisions we can, and should, act with values that mutually advance the strength and sustainability of our community and company. We celebrate our workforce across 23 countries who strive to deliver high-performance, energy-efficient products to market, while embodying our core values rooted in corporate citizenship. Whether it’s partnering with local non-profit and educational leaders, empowering employees and advancing human rights, or conserving natural resources, we are passionate about helping solve some of the world’s toughest challenges.
AMD engineers have worked tirelessly to increase not only the performance of our processors for mobile products, but also their energy efficiency. The milestones we’ve achieved on the road to achieving our 25x20 energy efficiency goal have garnered international recognition from the Edison Awards, Green Electronics Council, Asia Responsible Entrepreneurial Award, China Computer Users’ Association, and Environmental Leader. And, our recently announced Ryzen Mobile Processors with Radeon Vega Graphics bring us even closer to achieving our goal.
Our third annual AMD Cares Day of Service saw over 1,600 workforce volunteers worldwide give 6,400 hours of their time to local service opportunities. Together, our teams restored eight parks; packed, cooked, and served 44,000 meals; assembled 2,000 educational packets; and more. Volunteerism isn’t an extracurricular, but rather a part of our DNA – our annual internal survey data shows that employees who are engaged in the community through our programs are more engaged at work too.
We value diverse perspective and have continued to cultivate a culture that empowers employees to bring their authentic selves to work every day and to use their time and talents to make an impact within their local communities. This year, we rolled out enhanced parental leave benefits for employees, maintained our “100” score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index, and continued to expand our internal programs for employees and families.
Environmental stewardship continues to be a focus for us, as we pursue our 2020 sustainability goals spanning our own operations, our supply chain, and our products. We are honored to have efforts recognized this year by the Austin Chamber of Commerce, Carbon Disclosure Project, and Science-based Targets initiative.
In summary, AMDers across the globe help AMD embrace an inclusive and respectful work environment, philanthropically support our local communities, use natural resources responsibly, and more, which recently culminated in AMD being ranked on the 2017 JUST 100. We are proud of this recognition because we know the work and passion that happens daily behind the scenes to make it possible. While we have more that we want to accomplish, we’re honored to be named among our customers, partners, and other leading businesses who are putting shared values into action. It’s good for our communities, and it’s good for our business.
